ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

My commitment to service is widely established and I am very proud of the work I have accomplished over the past 3 years, bringing needed services and resources to the citizens of Charles County, to name a few:

  • Broadband service to rural and underserved areas;
  • Signed into Resolution “Senior Citizen Community for Life”, committed to senior citizen services and affordable housing;
  • COVID19 Task Force - recommending and advocating for services and grant opportunities for businesses and non-profits;
  • Local legislation to authorize Charles County HOA Board to conduct hearings;
  • Funded schools above Maintenance of Effort and addressing the funding priorities of the Blueprint;
  • Revitalization - Bryan’s Road sub-area plan to address the disparities and lack of amenities in the community in which you and I live, play and work;
  • Partnership with a non-profit organizations to teach families and businesses food sustainability with farming Community garden programs;
  • Disparity Study identifies the lack of government contracts awarded to minority businesses, providing recommendations for removing the disparity;
  • Partnered with the Melwood Center, Piscataway Tribe and Health Department[t1] to hold COVID vaccination clinics;
  • Held a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Townhall – addressed barriers and challenges of DEI in Charles County;
  • Supported legislation to bring union membership opportunities to Charles County employees;
  • Funded Wheels to Wellness, transportation program providing transportation to doctor appointments outside of Charles County;
  • Provided $400,000 in scholarships for students of College of Southern Maryland;
  • To spur economic growth, designating Bryan’s Road and Indian Head area as “Charles County Technology Corridor”;
  • Installed VanGo bus shelter and bus stop to needed areas of Charles County;
  • Supported Federal and State funding for Light Rail (SMRT) study to reduce our carbon footprint and traffic congestion;
  • Provided resources to businesses and projects in Charles County to spur economic growth, job creations and training opportunities;
  • Funded a Mobile Behavioral Health crisis unit for the Health Department;
  • Funded Parks & Recreational financial assistance (Rec Assist) program to assist families with that could not otherwise get their children in a recreational program;
  • Advocated in partnership with Delegate Patterson and Senator Ellis to obtain a Sports Betting license for the Riverboat located in Virginia, but owned by Charles County, Maryland, to include a Community Benefits agreement to support operational cost for a Boys and Girls/senior recreational Club in Charles County;
  • Advocated in partnership with Senator Ellis to obtain funding from Maryland Stadium Authority for a Sports and Entertainment Center/Boys and Girls/senior recreational center in Bryan’s Road and a study for a Waldorf center;
  • As a Board member of the M-495 Fast Ferry Boat Steering Committee, advocating for Ferry boat passenger transportation in Charles County;
  • Received commitment from MTA to study the are in Western Charles County for a commuter bus service;
  • Funded family support services, to include mortgage and rental assistance;
  • Funded non-profit organizations to assist with needed resources and services for Charles County citizens;
  • Established a Climate Resiliency Board to address stormwater management issues as a result of global warming and rain;
  • Partnership and supported funding the operations of Velocity Center and USTBA, spurring other commercial economic interest to the area, resulting in jobs and training opportunities;
  • Partnership with several organizations to discuss options to bring workforce and affordable homes to our veterans, teachers, Fire/EMS, retail, restaurant and county workers;

I've accomplished a lot during my last 3 years, but my work isn't finished, let's not stop here. I am humbly asking for your support and vote this term, 2022.
